This exhibition includes an engaging selection of 30 etchings-both in black and white and color --that include Welo's poignant landscapes of Midwestern towns as well as whimsical images that tap into his witty perceptions of the world.
Larry Welo's fine art prints have been exhibited extensively and are included in prestigious permanent collections such as the New Orleans Museum of Art, The Butler Institute of American Art, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the New York Public Library.
Welo is singular among American fine-art printmakers in creating most of his etchings on location by drawing directly on portable copper plates that allow him to fully explore his subjects over progressive time intervals, in a rich range of light and in various weather conditions.
